Attractions

Wildheart Sanctuary

Wildheart Sanctuary, near Sandown, is a unique conservation centre dedicated to rescued big cats and other exotic animals. The sanctuary provides a safe home for animals that cannot return to the wild, offering visitors a chance to see them up close in thoughtfully designed enclosures.

Educational talks and guided tours highlight the sanctuary’s work and promote awareness of wildlife conservation.

Quarr Abbey

Steam Railway

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway provides a charming and nostalgic way to explore the island’s countryside. Heritage steam and diesel trains run between Wootton, Havenstreet, and Smallbrook, passing through rolling farmland, woodland, and scenic villages.

Each carriage is carefully restored, allowing passengers to experience the romance of early 20th-century rail travel.

Carisbrooke Castle

Carisbrooke Castle, perched above Newport, is one of the Isle of Wight’s most iconic historic sites. The Norman keep, fortified walls, and sprawling grounds offer a rich insight into the island’s past, including its connection to Charles II, who was imprisoned here.

Visitors can wander the castle’s ramparts, explore the well-preserved towers, and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.
